The Organizing Committee was
established in a meeting held in Bahrain
July 23rd, 1993
to develop Sports of the disabled in GCC Countries. Each country is represented
by one member in the committee. The Chairman and General Secretary should be
from the host country. Every four years the host country changes in
alphabetical order and a new committee is formed. However, until now, the GCC
countries gave Bahrain
the right to be the Host Country, and since its formation the Committee is
headed by Sheikh Daij Ben Khalifah
Al Khalifah. The first meeting was held 14-15
November 1993 and a Technical Committee was formed by members representing the
six countries and headed by Essam Mohammad Kamal. Its first activity was a Goal Ball Tournament in Saudi
Arabia. Each year the Technical Committee
arranges and supervises 2-4 championships in various sports of the disabled
each year.
